The plank can be seen jutting out of both windows as the vehicle moves along the right lane, posing a threat to nearby motorists.

A driver has triggered outrage online after being caught transporting a long wooden plank that protruded significantly from both sides of their vehicle while travelling on a busy road.

In a video shared on the social media platform Threads by user @shafiq_abdullah1, the plank can be seen jutting out of both rear windows as the car moves along the right-hand lane, posing a clear hazard to nearby motorists and motorcyclists.

@shafiq_abdullah1 expressed his disbelief in the caption: “Planks sticking out on both sides of the car. That’s dangerous, bro!”

He added that while he felt the urge to confront the driver over the reckless act, he hesitated to do so. The incident is believed to have taken place in Klang.

The footage quickly gained traction, with the comments section filled with users urging the authorities to take immediate action.

“Report it via the JPJ app… that already endangers others,” commented user @afiq0007, while several others tagged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to call for stricter enforcement.

Beyond the call for fines, many netizens criticised the driver’s lack of basic safety awareness and common sense regarding vehicle load limits.

Some pointed out that modern sedans are designed with features that would have made the transport far safer.

“If you don’t have a Hilux, van, or lorry, just load it through the boot,” suggested user fendi1183.

“Fold the back seats and the front passenger seat, then push it through from the back to the front. Even if it sticks out slightly from the boot, you can just tie it down. Most sedan seats can fold down anyway,” he added.

Under Malaysian road transport regulations, carrying a load that extends beyond the dimensions of a vehicle in a manner that endangers other road users is an offence.

If found guilty, drivers can face significant fines or points deducted from their licences.
