Children’s firecracker hits a window, causing fire that destroys a home in a dense residential area.
A house was reportedly destroyed after a firecracker thrown by children struck a window and started a fire.
The incident was shared by @s_nursyarafana on Threads, who wrote: “This is a real test. Kids playing with firecrackers hit the house window and the whole place caught fire. We still haven’t found who did it.”
The post drew concern from other users about the dangers of firecrackers in residential areas, particularly around flats and apartments.
@yayamika77 recalled previous warnings that went ignored, noting that people had been advised not to play with firecrackers late at night or near other people’s homes.
“I hope the family stays strong and that things are made easier for them.”
Many users said that dense housing makes such activities particularly risky.
@horrayeay said flats and apartments are not suitable for firecrackers and pointed to a recent Chinese New Year incident where a firecracker flew into a neighbouring apartment, causing a fire.
Concerns were also raised about enforcement as @scootster put it: “The police announce that firecrackers are not allowed, but when they’re exploding everywhere no police come to investigate. Might as well not make announcements if it’s just for show.”
@___dakwanie pointed out the risks of firecrackers during festive periods: “Why does so much trouble happen during Hari Raya? People losing limbs, houses burning down — all because of firecrackers?”
Similarly, @myrahahmad shared that her house had been hit by firecrackers before, but fortunately it did not catch fire, describing the behaviour of children playing with firecrackers as reckless.
As of the latest update from @s_nursyarafana, the individual responsible for the fire has not been identified.
