Food rider gets nearly RM1,000 tip from generous customer

Delivery rider stunned after foreign customer hands him multiple RM100 notes in Kuala Lumpur estate

A food delivery rider experienced an unforgettable moment when a customer handed him what could amount to nearly RM1,000 in gratuity after completing a routine order in Kuala Lumpur.

The heartwarming incident was captured on video and shared by TikTok user Muhamad Rafiuddin, showing the young man receiving the generous tip from a foreign customer, believed to be a Caucasian expatriate, at an upscale residential area.

The footage shows Rafiuddin making a nighttime delivery to the customer, identified as Brandon. After handing over the food order, Brandon asked the rider to wait momentarily.

He returned carrying several RM100 banknotes, which he promptly gave to the surprised delivery worker.

When Muhamad Rafiuddin questioned why the tip amount was so substantial, Brandon offered a straightforward explanation.

“Here you go, I’m leaving tomorrow and can’t be bothered to exchange the money,” the customer said casually.

The video sparked widespread excitement in the comments section, with viewers estimating the tip could be close to RM1,000 based on the visible stack of purple-colored RM100 notes.

TikTok user Hanepp commented: “Blessed to get the right address, almost RM1,000 in tips.”

Ayu Lynn expressed vicarious happiness: “All purple notes too. He’s the one who got it, but I’m the one feeling happy.”

In response Grab Malaysia said: “Thank you, Mr Brandon, for the very meaningful tip for our Abang Grab. May you always be protected and your affairs be made easier.”

The incident has resonated with many Malaysians who work in the gig economy, serving as a reminder that unexpected acts of generosity can brighten someone’s day and potentially make a significant difference in their financial situation.

For delivery riders who often work long hours for modest earnings, such windfalls represent not just financial relief but also recognition of their service.
