M’sian customer pays RM10 for chicken popcorn at food festival, receives 8 small pieces

“I bought chicken popcorn for RM10, expecting to get a lot of chicken, but this is what I got—so little!”

A Malaysian woman recently took to Threads to vent her frustration after paying RM10 for what she described as an extremely small portion of chicken popcorn at a local food festival.

In a short video, the woman showed a small container of french fries topped with cheese sauce and herbs, accompanied by only a few tiny pieces of chicken popcorn.

She then zoomed in on the stall where she purchased the food, highlighting the signage that advertised a vastly different-looking meal.

On the signboard, the container appeared filled to the brim with chicken popcorn, served alongside a small portion of french fries and sauces.

“I bought chicken popcorn for RM10, expecting to get a lot of chicken, but this is what I got—so little!”

She added resignedly:

“I guess I just have to be patient.”

Her post quickly went viral, with many netizens expressing shock and disappointment over the portion size, while others criticised the stall for misleading advertising.

“So annoying. Better off buying frozen chicken popcorn and put it in the air fryer instead,” said one netizen.

Another commenter pointed out that such practices could have legal consequences overseas:

“In America, they would’ve been shut down a long time ago because of false advertising. You can’t use one picture and sell something else, especially when the portion is different. In Europe, it’s also illegal and you can take action if they do something like this.”
