“Public parking, but acts like his own place?” – Woman’s Threads post sparks debate over entitled driver

A Threads post by @nazirapadzil goes viral after she shares a voice note from a man demanding she move her car from a public parking spot, sparking heated debate among Malaysians over entitlement and public parking rights.

A recent viral Thread post by @nazirapadzil has Malaysians talking after she shared her encounter with a man who tried to stop her from parking in what she claimed was a public car park.

In her post, she explained that the space was not a designated private bay, yet a man confronted her father and insisted that she move her vehicle.

To back up her claim, she also uploaded a voice note allegedly from the individual, in which he could be heard asking her to shift her car, further fuelling outrage among netizens.

The unexpected confrontation left her stunned, questioning how someone could claim control over a public parking spot.

Her post quickly gained traction, with many Malaysians saying they had experienced similar situations in residential areas.

Several users pointed out that public parking follows a simple rule.

mo.sopi wrote: “If it’s a public place, anyone can park as long as it’s first come, first served. But if it involves threats, you can make a police report under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).”

Similarly, hajimegenta commented: “Just say first come, first served. If he blocks you, call the local council or towing and have it impounded.”

“Snap a picture, make a report to JPJ and the local council. I’ve done it. Suddenly he received a summons letter hahaha. He was left stunned after getting fined. Roads in residential areas are not private parking. Many people don’t know how to use the laws available in Malaysia,” mr_edd768 added.

Some netizens did not hold back in criticising the attitude.

mrkhairulakram described it as: “Uneducated and self-absorbed personality.”

“Have you made a police report? Public parking means anyone can park, whoever comes first gets it. Why is this man making a fuss? His name isn’t stamped there. Such rubbish behaviour! Common sense, please,” liyanaaramli added.
