KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a newborn baby girl was found in a garbage bin in an apartment in Bukit Serdang, Seri Kembangan, near here early today.
Serdang District Police Chief ACP Ismadi Borhan said police were informed at about 4.30am of the discovery of the body, which was still attached to its umbilical cord.
He said further investigations found that the baby had died at the scene and police only found a black piece of cloth there.
“The body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital for a postmortem to determine the cause of death, and the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body.
“An investigation is being conducted and we urge anyone with any information to contact the nearest police station,” he said when contacted. — Bernama
