KOTA BHARU: The Rahmah Sales programme has become a well-known brand in Kelantan because it helps people save on their daily essentials.

Local residents do not miss out on the opportunity to shop for essential items offered at cheaper prices at the programme.

Asnani Saari, 43, said she had always waited for the programme to be held, at any location, to buy daily essentials.

“Two weeks ago I went to the one held in Kubang Kerian and today I am here in Kota Bharu. Even though the locations are quite far from my house (in Kok Lanas) but I think it’s still worth it because the prices offered are much cheaper and we can find many items, especially chicken, fish and cooking oil,“ she told Bernama when met at the Al Mukmin Mosque here today.

The Rahmah Sales Carnival at the mosque’s compound was launched by Kota Lama assemblyman Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.

Meanwhile, Dr Hafidzah said the government allocated a subsidy of up to RM15,000 for each Rahmah Sales programme to help the people deal with the rising cost of living.

“Usually there will be two or three series of Rahmah Sales programme per month for one location. This involves a large amount of subsidy from the government in an effort to help the people,“ she said.

About 20,000 of the total 30,000 residents of the Kota Lama constituency have benefited from the programme, she added. - Bernama
