KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested another individual in connection with the misappropriation of nearly RM120,000 in zakat funds.

The woman, in her 50s, was arrested at 4 pm yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur MACC office while providing her statement.

According to an MACC source, preliminary investigations revealed the suspect is an employee of a statutory body.

She is suspected of colluding with another woman who was arrested by the commission on Sunday.

“The suspect is believed to have colluded to enable the applications to be issued by the statutory body,“ the source said.

Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib confirmed the arrest when contacted.

The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.

The misappropriation involves 26 unqualified applicants who received zakat funds they were not entitled to receive. – Bernama
