Moderate quake strikes Indonesia’s Talaud Islands

KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale, struck the Talaud Islands in Indonesia at 9.16 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

It occurred 22 km northeast of Talaud Island, Indonesia, at a depth of 24 km, the department said in a statement.

The quake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
