SHAH ALAM: Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) plans to have an Alumni House as a one-stop centre to strengthen the network of cooperation with former students, industry and universities.
UMT deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Dr Mohd Izani Mohd Zain said the university through the UMT Alumni Centre is actively collecting funds to build the facility which is targeted to be operational by 2027.
He said UMT needs RM2.2 million for the construction of the Alumni House on a 1,170 square metres site and it will be built in five phases through public funding and sponsorship from industry and alumni.
“The construction and creation of centre is a one-stop centre for sharing expertise, information and alumni industry as well as a space for organising student activities.
“The Alumni House is seen to be able to support the Ministry of Higher Education’s desire to realise its focus on student empowerment while also strengthening the network of collaboration between UMT alumni, industry and the university,“ he said.
He said this when met after launching the establishment of the Alumni House at the Alumni Charity Dinner with Prominent Industries here last night.
Mohd Izani said the Alumni House which will be known as The Club House of UMT Alumni will be built next to the University House on the UMT campus in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.
