A TOTAL of 1,348 students graduated at MAHSA University’s 15th convocation ceremony held recently. The graduates from seven faculties received their scrolls from the university’s chancellor, Tun Zaki Tun Azmi.
The ceremony witnessed 32 students graduating with first class honours and Dr Foo Guang Ian from the Faculty of Dentistry awarded the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. He was honoured not only for academic excellence but also for his active participation in extracurricular activities and impactful contribution to society. Twelve graduates also received the Vice Chancellor prize for their excellent academic achievements.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship. Besides illustrating his accomplishments and entrepreneurial success, MAHSA University pro-chancellor and executive chairman, Tan Sri Dr Mohamed Haniffa Abdullah also credited Liew for putting Malaysia on the world stage.
Prof Datuk Dr Hj Mohd Ariffin Hj Mohamed was also conferred the honorary award of Emeritus Professor. This prestigious title is given in recognition of the value an individual has acquired due to his or her outstanding contribution to the university in leadership, teaching, research and community service.
“Our mission is to be committed to the delivery of education of the highest quality with emphasis on hands-on training. In support of this mission, we will continuously improve and cultivate students’ experience from the moment they think of applying to the university to the moment they graduate,“ Haniffa said.
MAHSA University is rated “Very Good” in the 2017 SETARA rating for Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia. It currently has more than 1,100 international students from 75 different nationalities.
