Amanah seeks extra seat in upcoming Sabah state election

Amanah aims to contest an additional seat in Sabah polls, with Sulabayan identified as potential constituency for their candidate.

SHAH ALAM: Parti Amanah Negara is seeking to contest an additional state assembly seat in the upcoming Sabah election.

President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu confirmed the matter has been referred to Pakatan Harapan secretary-general for discussion with coalition partners.

“We have mentioned contesting Sulabayan, which is indeed a tough seat,” he told reporters after officiating the 2025 Amanah National Convention.

Mohamad, who serves as Agriculture and Food Security Minister, said the party remains open to contesting any suitable constituency.

He expressed confidence that the PH-Barisan Nasional-Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition would regain control of Sabah.

The party has announced educator and social activist Mohd Julpikar Ab Mijan as their candidate for the Sulabayan seat.

Polling for the Sabah state election is scheduled for November 29, with nomination day on November 15. – Bernama
