Johor health authorities confirm no directive to close schools after TB cases in Kota Tinggi, with screening and sanitation completed at five affected institutions.
JOHOR BAHRU: No directive has been issued for the temporary closure of schools following the detection of tuberculosis cases involving several students in Kota Tinggi district.
Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin said any such decision falls under the jurisdiction of the district health office.
He stated the situation remains under control with all preventive measures implemented per Ministry of Health guidelines.
The previously detected cases involved six students from five different schools in the district.
These comprise three primary schools and two secondary schools.
All students at the affected schools have now undergone full screening by the MOH.
The district health office has also carried out sanitation in high-risk areas and held engagement sessions with school management.
To enhance understanding, the PKD will arrange for medical officers to visit the affected schools for further briefings.
These briefings will cover TB and the preventive measures that should be observed by staff and students.
Aznan advised all schools to continue complying with MOH directives and guidelines at all times.
He urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause anxiety.
“The state government will continue to work closely with the MOH and PKD to ensure the situation remains under control,” he said.
This cooperation aims to manage the issue prudently and transparently for the well-being of children.
