A comprehensive and holistic education can produce a highly competitive young generation capable of excelling at both the national and international levels, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

KUALA LUMPUR: A comprehensive and holistic education can produce a highly competitive young generation capable of excelling at both the national and international levels, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Citing the achievement of the Sekolah Seri Puteri (SSP) orchestra, the Seri Puteri Symphonic Winds Orchestra (SPWinds), which gained international recognition, including a Gold Award at the 11th World Orchestra Festival in Vienna, Austria, last year, he said the success reflects the country’s education ecosystem, supported by teachers, parents and the community, is capable of nurturing talent and building strong character.

“I call on all parties, including the private sector and the community, to continue supporting this noble effort to ensure that the journey of these young talents to the global stage, such as the 2026 World Music Contest, can be realised.

“Ultimately, initiatives like this are not merely about music, but about building a legacy of a generation that is courageous, cultured and competitive on the global stage,” he said in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, Anwar, when attending the ‘Winds of Glory: AM:PM Amir Masdi and SP Winds in Concert’, announced a contribution of RM100,000 to the orchestra as a show of support and encouragement for the group to carry out programmes and activities that contribute to student development through excellence in the arts.

Elaborating further, Anwar said strategic collaboration with professional artists such as Amir Masdi not only enriches the learning experience but also serves as an important platform to broaden students’ thinking and confidence.

The charity concert, organised by the SPWinds Parental Support Group (KSIB) under the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), aims to raise funds for participation in the 2026 World Music Contest (WMC) in the Netherlands this July.
