Malaysia’s prime minister intends to join the D8 economic cooperation summit in Indonesia, highlighting commitment to bilateral ties and regional collaboration.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed his intention to attend the Developing Eight (D8) Organisation for Economic Cooperation Summit in Jakarta next month.
He conveyed this during a courtesy call from Indonesia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Malaysia, Raden Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo, at the Parliament Building.
“This reflects Malaysia’s continued commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
During the meeting, both leaders agreed to enhance trade and investment cooperation to match the close fraternal and strategic relations between the two nations.
Anwar stated such cooperation could involve more frequent exchange visits and closer communication between top leadership to implement shared agendas more effectively.
He also congratulated Ambassador Raden Mohammad Iman on the commencement of his duties in strengthening the long-standing Malaysia-Indonesia relationship.
