Minister Hannah Yeoh is proclaimed head of the Federal Territories State Scouts Council and announces RM20,000 in allocations.
KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh was proclaimed president of the Federal Territories State Scouts Council today.
The proclamation ceremony was held in conjunction with the 2026 Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory King’s Scout Medal and Certificate Presentation Ceremony at the City Hall Auditorium here today, where Hannah announced a ministerial allocation of RM20 million as a contribution towards boosting scouting activities in the Federal Territories.
“As a sign of support for this effort, I am pleased to allocate RM10 million to the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory branch of the Scouts Association of Malaysia to plan more programmes during the school holidays involving young people.
“But today, I would like to add another RM10 million so that the allocation can be channelled towards more training programmes involving youths who may not be able to join you in these programmes,” she said during her speech at the ceremony.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Executive Director Rosli Nordin was also proclaimed chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory State Scouts Council at the ceremony.
Hannah also presented King’s Scout Certificates, the highest award given to scouts who have fulfilled stringent requirements in leadership, skills, resilience, community service and appreciation of the Scout Promise and Law, to 58 recipients.
The award is the highest achievement in the Malaysian Scouting Movement and serves as proof of the recipients’ abilities as disciplined young leaders with integrity and a strong spirit of service to society and the nation.
She also presented the Chief Scout’s Commendation Certificates to 75 recipients and the Federal Territories Scouts Wangsa Certificates to 108 recipients, all of whom were scout leaders.
Chief Scout of Malaysia Major General Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin and National Scout Council member and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul were also present at the ceremony.
