Collaboration key to education success, says PM Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the success of Malaysia’s education system hinges on strong collaboration between the government, parents, and teachers.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised that the success of the nation’s education system relies on close cooperation between the government, parents, and educators.

He said this collaboration is vital to ensure children receive holistic support both at school and at home.

Anwar reaffirmed that education remains a national priority in a Facebook post today.

“By ensuring quality education grounded in values and humanity, we can produce a generation that is knowledgeable, ethical and resilient in facing future challenges,” he said.

He shared details of his visit with his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to several schools in Sungai Besi to monitor the distribution of the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP).

Anwar said the BAP is a key government initiative to ease parents’ financial burden at the start of the new school year.

His visit also allowed him to meet pupils beginning their schooling journey.

“Their excitement reminds us that every child carries not only the hopes of parents, but also the trust of teachers and the aspirations of the nation’s future,” he said.

He added that schools play a vital role in shaping character, discipline, and identity.

The academic calendar for national and government-aided schools has returned to a January start this year.

This follows changes made in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school session for Group B states began today, while Group A states started yesterday.
