The Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department seized 21 vehicles, including two tour buses operating without licensed guides, in a major enforcement operation.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ WPKL) seized 21 vehicles, including two tour buses, in an integrated operation today.
Director Hamidi Adam said the two buses were seized for violating their operating permits by failing to provide a tour guide licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
“This non-compliance is a serious offence that breaches tourism vehicle licence conditions,” he said.
He stated the violation could affect passenger safety and pollute the tourism industry.
The offence is being investigated under Section 41(1)(b) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.
Convicted operators face a fine of up to RM500,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both, under Section 41(3).
Their vehicles can also be confiscated according to Section 80(4) of the same act.
The operation involved the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, the National Anti-Drug Agency and PLUS Malaysia Berhad.
A total of 2,091 vehicles were inspected, resulting in 382 summonses and 21 seizures.
Four drivers also tested positive for drugs during the checks.
Hamidi said JPJ WPKL will continue regular enforcement aligned with the “One Voice, Equal” principle.
He noted enforcement statistics for 2025 show a more targeted operational approach compared to 2024.
Vehicle inspections dropped to 176,536 in 2025 from 242,661 the previous year.
Actions taken against vehicles also decreased from 52,194 to 46,119 over the same period.
Vehicle seizures fell significantly from 3,278 in 2024 to just 995 in 2025.
Hamidi attributed the decline to an integrated approach combining legal action with education and advice.
