Shah Alam police probe three daycare centres for SOP breaches and child abuse, with videos of an autistic child and forced crawling going viral
SHAH ALAM: Police have received three reports concerning branches of a daycare centre here, believed to be involved in violations of standard operating procedures (SOP) and alleged abuse, as recently circulated on social media.
Shah Alam District Police Chief ACP Ramsay Embol said they have also recorded a statement from an influencer who exposed the incidents and are examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the involved premises.
“Reports were made by parents, including for an autistic child. So far, some branches under investigation have not yet submitted CCTV recordings, and seizures will be made,” he said in a statement.
He said the investigation is being conducted under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
Previously, a video believed to be shared by a daycare worker in Shah Alam, showing an autistic child locked in a storeroom while crying, went viral on social media.
Also viral was a video showing children at a branch of the same daycare in Puchong, Selangor, being told to crawl in a drain, allegedly to avoid inspection by the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
