Police raid Sentul condo mini casino, arrest 18 individuals

Police raided a mini casino operating in a Sentul condominium, arresting 18 people and seizing gambling equipment worth over RM19,000.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have dismantled a mini casino operating from a condominium unit in Sentul.

The raid was conducted yesterday by the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department’s D7 Division and Sentul district police.

A total of 18 individuals were arrested during the operation, which began at 10 pm.

Those detained include 14 local men, two local women, and two foreign nationals from Vietnam and Thailand.

Police stated the mini casino had been operating since November last year.

The premises was rented and operated only for close contacts or specific invitees to avoid detection.

It was not masterminded by any syndicate, according to the police statement.

Authorities confiscated a poker table, eight chairs, and 52 playing cards.

They also seized 625 multi-coloured gambling chips with a total value of RM19,325.

All suspects have been remanded for two days to assist with investigations.

The case is being probed under the Common Gaming House Act 1953. – Bernama
