YAN: Two young boys died after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle in Kampung Sedaka Tengah today.
The victims, aged 10 and 11, suffered severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Yan Police Chief Supt Mohamad Hamizi Abdullah confirmed police received an emergency call about the accident at 9.25 am.
“The bodies of both victims have been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar, for post-mortem examination,” he said in a statement.
He added that the car driver has been detained following the fatal collision.
The driver’s urine screening test returned negative for substance abuse.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
