Fadillah: Stability and unity key to Sarawak’s progress

Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof says stability, leadership planning and unity will drive Sarawak’s progress amid global economic challenges.

KUALA LUMPUR: Stability, sustainable leadership planning and the unity of its people are the strengths that will enable Sarawak to continue moving forward despite the global economic uncertainties, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

He said the state’s success in energy development, green economy and public well-being is due to the collective efforts of all communities, regardless of their backgrounds.

“The spirit of segulai sejalai (togetherness), mutual respect and cooperation is what has enabled Sarawak to continue to progress and be recognised as one of the best examples of stability, togetherness and unity among the people in the country,” Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said in a Gawai Day message posted on Facebook today.

He said Gawai Day, celebrated on June 1 and 2 every year, is not just a symbol of gratitude for a successful harvest, but also a unique cultural heritage and identity that strengthens the family spirit within the Dayak community.

Fadilah said the celebration symbolises the unity of the various races and religions in Sarawak, which has long been the foundation of the state’s harmony, and which also strengthens Malaysia’s national identity.

“May this year’s Gawai celebration continue to unite our hearts in the spirit of Segulai Sejalai, for a more progressive, prosperous, sustainable and harmonious future for generations to come.

“Happy Gawai Day, Gayu Guru, Gerai Nyamai, Lantang Senang Nguan Menua,” he added.
