Family accepts actress Nadia Kesuma’s passing, husband says

The family of actress Nadia Kesuma has accepted her passing, says her husband, who is travelling to Jeddah where she will be buried

GEORGE TOWN: The family of actress Nadia Kesuma has come to terms with her passing. Her husband, Prof Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah, said they were informed of her death by Wisma Putra.

Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan, a 57-year-old lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia, said he and his daughter would travel to Jeddah.

He stated they have accepted what has happened and apologised for not providing further details.

He appeared calm while embracing family members at Penang International Airport.

He was preparing to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur before continuing on to Jeddah.

Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan said his wife would be buried in Jeddah.

He has three children, aged 11 to 15, with Nadia Kesuma, whose real name was Nadiah Kasumawati Abdul Karim.

“My late wife often spoke of wanting to go to Mekah, so we are fulfilling her wish,” he told reporters.

The actress was reported missing on Thursday while transiting at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.

She was on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to London as part of an Umrah-London-Paris travel package. The tour group consisted of 21 other pilgrims.

Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan confirmed her death via a Facebook post earlier. He said she passed away at 8.07 am on Thursday.
