Johor increases allowances for village heads, Tok Batin and KAFA teachers by RM300 monthly under its RM2.55 billion 2026 state budget.
ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government has announced higher monthly allowances for village heads, Orang Asli Tok Batin and KAFA teachers under its 2026 state budget.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said these allowances will increase by RM300, from RM1,200 to RM1,500 monthly, effective January next year.
This initiative involves an additional allocation of RM2.6 million.
KAFA teachers will see their monthly allowance rise from RM1,612 to RM1,762, benefiting 2,150 teachers with an allocation of RM5.92 million.
One-off assistance for teachers’ rooms will be provided to over 54,000 teachers across 1,780 schools, including government religious schools, with RM8.9 million allocated.
A total of RM10 million has been allocated for programmes with leading international universities including Oxford, Harvard, Stanford and MIT.
The Johor Artificial Intelligence Council has been established to position the state as a regional AI and data hub by 2030.
An allocation of RM774,000 has been set for the implementation of the Counselling Clinic Programme.
Onn Hafiz said these initiatives are expected to strengthen governance and drive comprehensive transformation.
“The move is not merely an ordinary policy implementation but a holistic effort to ensure that every policy is effectively translated,” he said.
He added that state revenue will be managed prudently and public trust strengthened through these measures.
“Each of these initiatives serves as proof that Johor is progressing rapidly,” he stated.
Onn Hafiz tabled the Johor Budget 2026 amounting to RM2.546 billion at Kota Iskandar.
This represents an increase from last year’s budget of RM1.999 billion.
The budget focuses on ensuring the welfare and well-being of Johoreans while strengthening the state’s fiscal position. – Bernama
