The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has expanded the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar to 116 locations nationwide this year.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has expanded the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar to 116 locations nationwide this year.
Its Deputy Minister, Senator Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, said the initiative is a continuation of the government’s efforts to help ease the cost of living during the holy month.
She said the bazaars offer food and beverages priced at RM5 and below, with the participation of approximately 3,000 traders.
“We started in 2023 with 41 locations, followed by 62, then 103, and this year the number has increased to 116 nationwide,” she said at a press conference after launching the 2026 National-Level Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar here today.
She also encouraged traders to increase the range of food items across different categories to ensure that visitors from all walks of life have access to affordable options.
Meanwhile, Fuziah said that 69,040.7 kg of surplus food worth RM833,722 were successfully recovered at last year’s Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar through the MySaveFood initiative, which has since been rebranded as the Ihsan Food Bank (i-FB).
She said the effort also prevented more than 129,020 kg of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere.
The initiative, which began in 2023, was introduced to rescue surplus food at Ramadan bazaars and distribute it to those in need through collaboration with local authorities, volunteer organisations and local communities.
