KTMB begins KTM Komuter services at Segambut Utara station on May 11, benefiting over 250,000 residents with improved rail access.

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will commence KTM Komuter service operations at the Segambut Utara Railway Station starting May 11, thereby increasing rail transport access for residents in the nearby areas.

In a statement today, KTMB informed that the operation is expected to benefit more than 250,000 residents around Segambut, specifically communities in the Segambut Utara, Jalan Ipoh, and Kepong areas.

According to KTMB, the station is the 58th KTM Komuter station in the Tanjung Malim – Port Klang line network and connects passengers to several major rail integration stations such as Sungai Buloh, Kepong Sentral, Abdullah Hukum, and Subang Jaya.

Passengers can also continue their journey to the Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang sector by transferring trains at integration stations like Kuala Lumpur Station and KL Sentral.

The statement added that the station’s strategic location also provides convenience to commercial and residential developments such as United Point, subsequently enhancing connectivity between residential areas, economic activity centers, and public transport networks.

The presence of the station further supports daily mobility needs in densely populated areas and encourages a shift toward the use of more efficient and safe public transportation.

KTMB is also providing a 50% concession fare for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (OKU), in addition to introducing the MyRailLife programme.

This programme offers free unlimited travel passes to four eligible categories: children aged four to six, primary and secondary school students, Form Six students, and persons with disabilities.

Through this initiative, eligible passengers can enjoy free unlimited travel passes to facilitate daily mobility and encourage the use of rail services as a primary mode of transport.

Meanwhile, KTMB stated that KTM Komuter users can purchase tickets via the KITS Style app or ticket kiosks at KTMB stations, in addition to making payments using debit cards, credit cards, and digital e-wallet payments at automatic control gates.

The operation of the station is expected to facilitate travel for daily commuters while reducing dependence on private vehicles and strengthening the agenda for more sustainable urban mobility in the Klang Valley.

The public can plan their journeys through the official KTMB website at www.ktmb.com.my or the KITS Style app, and may contact the KTMB Call Centre at 03-9779 1200 for any further inquiries.
