KTMB launches special edition Komuter card with Bichi Mao to attract youth and families through interactive travel challenge.
IPOH: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad has launched a special edition Komuter Link card featuring local animation brand Bichi Mao.
The initiative aims to make train services more appealing to youth and families through an interactive travel campaign.
KTMB chief technical officer Ir Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin said the collaboration seeks to make train journeys more enjoyable and family-friendly.
“This launch is part of KTMB’s efforts to engage with all generations, particularly fans of local cat-themed animation,” he said at the launch ceremony.
The company has also introduced a Bichi Mao-themed train on its northern route with colourful graphics and family-friendly designs.
The KTM Komuter Utara service now serves more than 24,000 passengers daily, up from just 500 when introduced in 2015.
As of end-October 2025, the service has carried 40.5 million passengers in the northern region.
The campaign supports Visit Malaysia 2026 by promoting domestic and international tourism through comfortable train services.
Passengers can participate in the Kom-Mao-Ter Challenge by purchasing the special edition card priced at RM30.30.
They must travel to eight selected stations to collect exclusive stamps redeemable for limited-edition plushies.
The initiative is supported by Tourism Perak and Taiping Municipal Council through joint promotions.
These include travel on the Perak Hop-On Hop-Off bus to explore popular attractions around Taiping.
