Malaysia welcomes UNSC resolution to end Gaza conflict, calls for implementation of peace board and stabilisation force for Palestinian statehood.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has welcomed the United Nations Security Council resolution adopted Monday as a crucial step toward ending the Gaza conflict.
The Foreign Ministry urged the council to ensure swift and thorough implementation of the resolution to realise Palestinian rights.
These include statehood, sovereignty, territorial integrity and refugee right of return.
The ministry stated that the resolution endorses the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict announced on October 8 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

“The Security Council’s decision would pave the path for the establishment of a Board of Peace and an International Stabilisation Force,” the ministry said.
These bodies will facilitate reconstruction, economic recovery and demilitarisation in Gaza.
“Durable peace in Palestine and in the region can only be achieved through an inclusive and comprehensive solution,” the statement read.
Malaysia pledged continued support for efforts grounded in international law and UN Charter principles.
This includes realising an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as capital.
The US-drafted resolution establishes a transitional Board of Peace and authorises an International Stabilisation Force.
This force will oversee governance, reconstruction and security efforts in Gaza.
The resolution received 13 votes in favour with China and Russia abstaining.
According to Anadolu Ajansi, the Board of Peace and International Stabilisation Force remain authorised until December 31, 2027.
Any further reauthorisation requires full cooperation with Egypt, Israel and other member states working with the force. – Bernama
