Malaysia’s role in the US-Iran MoU and MADANI Mart updates are among key topics in today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s role and position regarding the announcement of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran to end the military conflict in West Asia is scheduled to be discussed at today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
According to the Order Paper on Parliament’s official website, Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) will pose a question to the Foreign Minister on the matter, including the steps Malaysia will take to ensure lasting peace in the region.
He will raise the question during the Minister’s Question Time after the Dewan Rakyat sitting begins at 10 am.
During the same session, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu) will ask the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) about the latest status of the MADANI Mart implementation initiative, including the number of outlets currently operating, applications received and entrepreneurs involved.
In the question-and-answer session, Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) will ask the Home Minister to state the number of synthetic drug addiction cases recorded since 2023 and the government’s strategy to address the rising use of such drugs, including the threat of fentanyl.
Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (PN-Larut) will ask the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry regarding the latest status of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) implementation between Malaysia and the United States.
Meanwhile, three bills are scheduled to be tabled for first reading at today’s sitting, namely the Prisons (Amendment) Bill 2026, the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Competition Commission (Amendment) Bill 2026.
