PM Anwar announces 56 PH candidates for Johor state election

PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim unveils 56 candidates for the Johor state election, blending new faces with experienced leaders.

TANGKAK: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last night (June 22) announced the list of candidates for the coalition who will contest in the 16th Johor state election.

The announcement made at the PH Candidate Announcement Ceremony at Padang Bukit Gambir Extreme Park here was also witnessed by the top leadership and thousands of supporters of the coalition.

Also present were PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

The list of candidates announced featured a combination of new faces and experienced leaders from PH component parties, namely PKR, DAP and Amanah.

In his speech, Anwar, who is also PKR president, said the process of selecting candidates was not easy given that more than 1,000 individuals were identified as being worthy of being nominated, but only 56 candidates could be selected to represent the coalition.

“I ask everyone to work hard,” he said.
