Malaysia’s defence minister holds key talks with four nations at DSA 2026

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin met with delegations from Norway, Singapore, Brunei, and South Korea to bolster military ties and discuss security issues.

KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin held a series of strategic bilateral meetings with four foreign delegations on the opening day of the Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security (NATSEC) Asia 2026 exhibition.

The courtesy calls, conducted at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), focused on strengthening military cooperation and exchanging views on regional and global security matters of mutual interest.

Khaled first received Norway’s Deputy Foreign Minister Eivind Vad Petersson before meeting with Singapore’s Education Minister Chan Chun Sing, who also serves as Minister-in-charge of the Public Service.

The minister then held discussions with Brunei’s Defence Minister II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Maj Gen (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi Haji Mohd Yussof.

A South Korean delegation, represented by Deputy Minister of the Defence Acquisition Programme Administration (DAPA) Jeoung Giyoung, also met with Khaled to enhance bilateral defence ties.

These engagements underscore Malaysia’s active defence diplomacy on one of the Asia-Pacific region’s largest defence and security platforms.

Senior officials present included Defence Ministry secretary-general Datok Lokman Hakim Ali alongside other top ministry and Malaysian Armed Forces personnel.

The four-day DSA and NATSEC Asia 2026 exhibition is expected to remain a key focal point for global defence industry players and international delegations.
