Political secretary says MRM’s street dakwah activities are allowed provided they fully comply with established laws and local authority guidelines.
KUALA LUMPUR: Street religious outreach activities by the Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) organisation are permitted to continue.
Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Azman Abidin stated this is conditional on full compliance with all laws and established guidelines.
“I appreciate the efforts being carried out and support their implementation within the space permitted by law,” he said in a Facebook post.
Azman’s comments followed a courtesy call from independent preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung and MRM chairman Muhammad Azim Abdullah Suhaimin.
The meeting was prompted by a recent enforcement action against an MRM outreach booth by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Discussions focused on aligning MRM’s street dakwah procedures with local authority regulations.
“During the session, discussions focused on clarifying and simplifying the organisational procedures for MRM’s street ‘Dakwah’ activities, so that it aligns with the guidelines and regulations set by local authorities, specifically DBKL,” Azman added.
He emphasised that adherence to regulations ensures all parties can operate professionally and prudently.
