MyDigital ID targets 15 million new registrations this year

MyDigital ID aims for 15 million new sign-ups in 2024, having already reached 8.7 million users through integration with over 80 services.

PUTRAJAYA: MyDigital ID is targeting 15 million new registrations this year to strengthen nationwide adoption of the national digital identity.

Deputy chief executive officer Rita Irina Abd Wahab said registrations have already reached approximately 8.7 million users, surpassing the halfway mark of the annual target.

“The target aligns with our strategy to make MyDigital ID a daily necessity for the public, rather than just a technology platform,” she said in a statement.

She added this supports the digitalisation agenda of both public and private services.

The surge is driven by integrating MyDigital ID with over 80 applications and portals across government and private sectors.

MyDigital ID currently records over 400,000 accesses weekly, reflecting growing public confidence in the system.

The initiative is expanding promotional efforts through strategic collaborations with e-hailing drivers to increase awareness.

This approach is seen as an inclusive step to introduce MyDigital ID as the primary gateway to services, particularly in urban areas.

“Through the support of e-hailing services, MyDigital ID is brought directly to the community,” Rita Irina said.

She noted this method is more relaxed, easy to understand, and builds public trust.

MyDigital ID is a secure digital identity platform providing single sign-on for digital services.

It does not replace the MyKad but functions as a digital representation to enhance security and accessibility for online transactions.
