FAMA’s Agro MADANI sale offers festive bargains and local business boost

FAMA’s pre-Syawal Agro MADANI sale in Selayang offers discounted essentials, targets RM150,000 sales and supports local agro-entrepreneurs with extra income

KUALA LUMPUR: The pre-Syawal Agro MADANI sale is providing dual benefits for consumers and local agro-food entrepreneurs.

Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) chairman Aminuddin Zulkipli said the programme offers lower prices while helping local businesses expand their market reach.

He stated that participating entrepreneurs are expected to earn an additional RM3,000 to RM5,000 throughout the event, which runs from 7.30 am to 3.00 pm.

The programme aims to serve approximately 5.5% of the Selayang parliamentary constituency’s population, estimated at 363,289 people based on 2020 census data.

“This is part of FAMA’s continuous effort to ensure people have access to sufficient food supplies at reasonable prices, especially ahead of the festive season,” he told reporters at the event in Dataran Ilmu, Bandar Baru Selayang.

The programme is projected to attract about 5,000 visitors representing some 20,000 households.

It has a sales target of RM150,000, with estimated consumer savings reaching RM45,000.

Aminuddin added that the supply and prices of basic goods like meat, rice and vegetables remain stable ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“There is no need for panic buying,” he said.

He also reported good compliance with price controls by traders so far, with no violations detected by authorities.

Meanwhile, Selangor Women Development and Community Welfare chairman Anfaal Saari detailed some of the special offers.

She said 500 chickens were sold for RM10 each, while 1,800 kilogrammes of meat were sold at RM30 per kilogramme.

The programme also offers discounts of between 10% and 30% on several selected items for visitors.
