The Department of Standards Malaysia says it has never issued government purchase orders or vendor appointment letters through unofficial channels.
PUTRAJAYA: The Department of Standards Malaysia (JSM) has never issued any government purchase orders (POs) or vendor appointment letters through unofficial channels.
The department, in a statement today, said all its official procurement matters are carried out lawfully and transparently, through the Malaysian government’s ePerolehan system, in accordance with established financial procedures.
“JSM advises the public to remain vigilant and not be deceived by any suspicious documents which clearly contain elements of fraud and impersonation of JSM officers.
“If there is any doubt regarding the authenticity of documents, communications, or offers, purportedly issued in JSM’s name, verification should be made directly through the department’s official channels before any transactions are carried out, to avoid potential losses,” the department said.
Referring to the circulation of fake POs and vendor appointment letters through unofficial channels, allegedly issued by JSM, the department stressed that it takes the matter seriously and that appropriate legal action is being taken in cooperation with the authorities.
“JSM is committed to ensuring the safety, integrity and full transparency of all its administrative dealings,” it added.
The department had previously highlighted the matter on its official Facebook page, receiving reports of two scam attempts involving POs, with checks confirming that the documents were fake.
