Deputy PM Fadillah says cabinet will discuss short, medium and long-term economic impacts of the West Asia conflict, with details to follow.
KUALA LUMPUR: A special cabinet meeting will assess the potential impact of the West Asia conflict on Malaysia.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the meeting will discuss the short, medium and long-term effects on the country.
“What is more important is for us to be prepared, particularly in terms of the people’s economy,” he told reporters today.
He added that further details would be announced tomorrow after the meeting concludes.
Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said a special committee had already held preliminary discussions on the issue.
The committee is chaired by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Tensions in West Asia escalated significantly following attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran.
These attacks were followed by retaliatory strikes from Tehran against US interests in Gulf countries.
