Kelantan receives RM2.6 million for 37 Rukun Tetangga Progresif projects, focusing on expanding existing community economic ventures like farming and livestock
GUA MUSANG: The National Unity Ministry has allocated RM2.6 million for the implementation of 37 Rukun Tetangga (RT) Progresif projects across Kelantan since 2024.
Kelantan Department of National Unity and National Integration (JPNIN) director Zarina Zakaria said the projects are executed through grants to empower existing community-run economic ventures.
She stated the initiative aims to help increase income and invigorate the local subsistence economy.
“This allocation is not meant as seed funding, but rather to expand and strengthen economic opportunities that already exist within the Rukun Tetangga community,” she told reporters after visiting a deer farming project in Kampung Kundur.
She explained that from eight stipulated fields for RT Progresif, two are mandatory: the community must have an existing economic project and be actively conducting voluntary patrols.
Other fields encompass community support activities and unity strengthening.
Zarina said the RT Progresif projects cover various community agriculture and livestock enterprises.
These include deer farming, fertigation crops, turkeys, cattle, goats, freshwater fish, and kelulut honey production.
In the Gua Musang district, two RT Progresif projects are being implemented.
They are a freshwater fish farming project in Kampung Batu Papan and the deer farm in Kampung Kundur.
She expressed hope that more RT Progresif projects can be established in the district with continuous support from district and state-level authorities.
