Thai motorcyclist killed in overtaking crash on Kuala Besut bridge

A Thai national died on the spot after his motorcycle collided with a car while attempting to overtake on a double line on Kuala Besut Bridge

JERTIH: A Thai national was killed in a road accident on the Kuala Besut Bridge yesterday afternoon.

Acting Besut district police chief DSP Md Sani Md Saleh said police received a report of the two-vehicle collision at 3.30 pm.

The victim, identified as 51-year-old Adnan Bueraheng, died at the scene. His 48-year-old wife, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries in the crash.

Md Sani said the accident is believed to have occurred when the victim, riding an SYM motorcycle, attempted to overtake on a double line. The motorcycle then collided with an oncoming Mazda car.

“The victim’s body was sent to Besut Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
