A senior citizen and another man died in a three-motorcycle collision on Jalan Burma, with a teenage girl injured and police investigating the cause.
GEORGE TOWN: Two men were killed and a teenage girl injured in an accident involving three motorcycles on Jalan Burma.
Timur Laut police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the crash occurred at about noon when a 71-year-old man on a motorcycle suddenly changed lanes from the left to the right side of the Lengkok Burma junction.
Two other motorcyclists travelling in the middle lane failed to avoid him and collided with his vehicle.
The elderly motorcyclist died at the scene, while the second rider, a 41-year-old man, died while receiving treatment at Penang Hospital.
“The post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death for both victims was head injuries,” said Abdul Rozak.
The third rider, a 19-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries to her right leg.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
