YAPEIM allocates RM2.7 million for flood victims this year

YAPEIM has allocated RM2.7 million for flood aid, with RM500,000 already distributed in essential goods and cash to assist affected victims.

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YAPEIM) has allocated RM2.7 million for its Flood Aid Programme this year.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said about RM500,000 has already been distributed to assist affected victims.

Aid has been channelled in the form of essential goods and cash assistance.

Zulkifli spoke to reporters after the Ihsan MADANI Squad Post-Disaster Relief Mission at Taman Guru.

He said YAPEIM, together with other agencies, is providing assistance to flood victims in Kuantan today.

“It is hoped that this will help ease their burden,” he said.

Other agencies involved included JAKIM, JAWI, YADIM, and Yayasan Taqwa Wilayah Persekutuan.

Today’s aid distribution benefited 300 recipients with food supplies and essential items.

The items included prayer kits, disposable diapers, hygiene kits, blankets, batik sarongs and pelikat.

“The donation amounted to RM118,000,” Zulkifli said.

He added that the Pahang Islamic Religious Department assisted in managing the contribution for flood victims in Kuantan.

Zulkifli said the MADANI government has a strong ecosystem for disaster management.

Various government agencies are working together to assist affected victims.

Programmes such as today’s initiative enable the government to engage directly with flood victims.

This allows the government to better understand their needs.
