Perkeso’s Mega iLINDUNGu Festival raises awareness of social protection schemes, offering employer discounts and attracting thousands of visitors nationwide
BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) continues its nationwide Mega iLINDUNGu Festival to increase public awareness of its benefits and social protection schemes.
Human Resources Minister Steven Sim said the programme is crucial as many contributors remain unaware of their full entitlement to claim for accidents, occupational hazards or disabilities.
“Through this festival, we aim to raise public awareness about the advantages of being a Perkeso contributor, as well as the various new schemes that will be introduced,” he told reporters after visiting the festival.
The three-day event also attracted Perkeso board chairman Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz.
Sim noted the Penang response has been very encouraging with over 13,000 participants so far and a target of 30,000 visitors throughout the event.
Perkeso is offering employers discounts of up to 80% on Late Payment Contribution Benefits during the festival to help settle outstanding contributions.
Seventy employers appealed for FCLB payments totalling RM205,185 in Penang, with Perkeso granting an 80% reduction worth RM164,000.
The Shah Alam edition recorded contributions exceeding RM251,000 involving 466 employers despite total FCLB owed amounting to RM2.08 million.
“Offering FCLB discounts specially during this festival demonstrates KESUMA’s commitment to ensure no Malaysian worker is marginalised,” Sim added.
Festival visitors can access contribution-checking services, register for LINDUNG schemes, seek counter assistance, attend interviews, undergo health screenings and enjoy cultural performances. – Bernama
