Perlis tourism calendar 2026 features international events to boost visitors

Perlis launches 2026 tourism calendar with international events like a sunnah convention and kite festival, targeting five million visitors for its Visit Perlis campaign

KANGAR: The Perlis state tourism calendar for 2026 features several major programmes, including international-scale events, to boost the Visit Perlis Year 2024-2026 campaign.

The campaign targets five million tourist arrivals this year.

Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah said the international programmes include the Perlis International Sunnah Convention from Jan 30 to Feb 1, the World Kite Festival@Perlis from Feb 10 to 11, and the Kuala Perlis International Water Festival from Sept 4 to 6.

Other highlighted events are the Perlis Squid Jigging Festival from Jan 24 to 25, the Perlis East Wind Festival from Feb 6 to 8, and the Citrawarna and Rakyat Festival 3.0 from May 22 to 24.

He said the Visit Perlis 2024–2026 campaign has a new slogan, ‘Hampa Nak Pi Mana? Mai Lah Perlis’, focusing on five main segments.

These segments are The Great Northern Escape for nature and adventure, Agro-Tourism and Flavours of Perlis for gastronomy, and Rustic Charm and Slow Living for relaxation.

The other two segments are Muslim Friendly Offering and Border Crossings and Cultural Fusion for shopping and heritage.

Abu Bakar said this at the launch of Visit Perlis Year 2026 and the state tourism calendar at the Heritage Hall here last night.

The launch was officiated by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.

Also in attendance were the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

Abu Bakar added that the establishment of the Tourism, Arts, Culture, Downstream and Heritage Bureau will help coordinate and implement state tourism programmes.

“Tourism is one of the main drivers of the people’s economic source in Perlis. Endeavour, utilise, preserve and fight for this sector for the well-being of future generations,” he said.
