Negeri Sembilan PH chief Aminuddin Harun dismisses claims of internal discord, says election machinery is united for Port Dickson seats.
PORT DICKSON: Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has dismissed claims of a rift among the coalition’s leadership and election machinery in the five state constituencies under the Port Dickson parliamentary seat.
Aminuddin, who is also State PKR chairman, said the leadership and campaign machinery had been working well together to secure victories for PH candidates in Chuah, Lukut, Sri Tanjung, Bagan Pinang and Linggi in the upcoming state election.
The menteri besar said the matter related to the re-nomination of Chuah incumbent Datuk Yew Boon Lye, which had been raised on social media and involved Port Dickson PKR deputy division chief Datuk Kenny Chiew Chi Kin, had been resolved internally.
Aminuddin said Chiew had pledged his full support for all PH candidates contesting in the state election.
“He has served the party well and worked hard to strengthen the division despite not being selected as a candidate. As the Port Dickson PKR deputy division chief, he naturally wants PH to win all the seats it is contesting.
“I thank him for his commitment in helping all our candidates to ensure PH wins all five state seats under the Port Dickson parliamentary constituency,” the Port Dickson MP told a press conference here today.
Aminuddin, who is also PH’s candidate for Linggi, said the speculation had been deliberately created by certain quarters to portray the coalition in a negative light.
In the 2023 state election, Yew retained the Chuah seat with a 6,298-vote majority against Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Tang Jay Son. In this election, he will face Barisan Nasional (BN)’s Pau Jeou Ching.
Early voting is on July 28, while polling takes place on Aug 1.
