Voter turnout in the Lamag state by-election reached 55.16% by 3 pm, with polling centres set to close in stages until 5.30 pm.
KINABATANGAN: A total of 55.16% of voters, or 7,455 people, had cast their ballots in the Lamag state by-election as of 3 pm today.
The Election Commission (EC) reported that the Lamag polling district recorded the highest turnout at 66.61%.
It was followed by Balat (59.35%), Buang Sayang (57.31%), Bukit Garam (56.14%), Usaha Jaya (54.66%) and Kota Kinabatangan (52.94%).

All nine polling centres, comprising 30 polling stations, opened at 7.30 am for 13,515 registered voters.
The centres will close in stages from noon until 5.30 pm according to their designated voting times.
The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election is a three-cornered contest involving Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar of Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman of Warisan and independent candidate Goldam Hamid.
The Lamag state seat is a straight fight between BN’s Mohd Ismail Ayob and Mazliwati Abdul Malek of Warisan.
Both by-elections were triggered by the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, on December 5 last year. – Bernama
