PH pledges partnership, not conflict with Sabah

PH-led federal government assures Sabah of cooperation, not confrontation, as state election nears.

KOTA KINABALU: The Pakatan Harapan-led Federal Government has never regarded Sabah as an adversary, said DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke.

Loke, who is also Transport Minister, reiterated that PH seeks to serve as a constructive partner in any future coalition government.

“I want to reassure Sabahans that the PH Federal Government is a Sabah-friendly government,” he said in a statement.

He said PH is not entering the state election with a chief ministerial candidate but aims to function as a bridge between Sabah and Putrajaya.

“Our role is to ensure a harmonious relationship between the state and federal governments,” he said, highlighting the 40% revenue entitlement issue.

He urged Sabah voters to consider the long-term impact of their decisions and the risks of an anti-federal coalition taking power.

“If a state government that is totally against the federal government comes to power, the next five years will be full of politicking,” he warned.

He said confrontational politics would only slow development projects and hinder progress for the people.

Loke emphasised the importance of having representation from national parties that form the federal administration.

“There needs to be balance,” he said, adding that PH representatives in Sabah would ensure strong federal support and a stable state government.

Sabah voters will cast their ballots on Nov 29, with early voting taking place on Nov 25. – Bernama
