Sabah state election nomination process begins across 25 centres

Nomination for Sabah’s 73 state seats starts at 9 am, with 3,334 forms sold and 1.78 million voters eligible for November 29 polling.

KOTA KINABALU: Nomination for the 17th Sabah State Election commenced at 9 am today across 25 nomination centres statewide.

Candidates contesting for 73 state seats have until 10 am to submit their nomination papers.

Returning officers will announce the list of eligible candidates following verification.

Successful candidates can then begin their 14-day campaign period ending at 11.59 pm on November 28.

The Election Commission reported 3,334 nomination forms sold for this state election.

Sabah State Election Office sold 2,414 sets while returning officers’ offices sold 920 sets.

Bernama observed supporters gathering at several nomination centres as early as 6 am.

Police and RELA personnel managed traffic and supervised areas around nomination centres.

Most locations experienced favourable weather despite MetMalaysia’s rain forecast yesterday.

A total of 1,784,843 electors are eligible to vote in this state election.

This includes 1,760,417 regular voters, 11,697 military personnel and spouses, and 12,729 police personnel and spouses.

The EC has scheduled early voting for November 25 with polling day on November 29. – Bernama
