Raja Permaisuri Agong praises Girl Guides’ 109 years of achievements

Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah commends Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia for empowering girls and promoting inclusivity over its 109-year history

JITRA: Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah expressed pride in the various achievements of the Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia (PPPM) throughout its more than 109-year history.

As the Royal Patron of PPPM, Her Majesty stated that the association’s steadfast spirit, commitment, and excellent success in various programmes, including at the global level, were very commendable.

“I have been informed that various extraordinary achievements have been reached throughout PPPM’s age, which reached 109 years last year. Among them is the Jade Camp Programme, which was held on a large scale for the first time at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), involving 1,000 girls and leaders.

“More proudly, this programme also involved the B40 group and the Orang Asli community, thus reflecting PPPM’s commitment to ensuring the inclusivity and unity of members,” Her Majesty said.

Her Majesty’s speech was delivered in conjunction with the 2026 Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia World Thinking Day Celebration (GGAM World Thinking Day 2026 – Our Friendship) at Dewan Wawasan here today.

Raja Zarith Sofiah also mentioned the IDG programme themed Girls’ Advocacy Circles: Empowering Girls’ Voices, which involved more than 2,000 participants, focusing on digital safety, anti-bullying, mental health and underage marriage.

Her Majesty said the programme helped increase awareness and education among participants.

“Stepping into its 110th year, PPPM remains committed to empowering girls to become knowledgeable, capable and noble citizens,” Her Majesty said.

PPPM President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the current generation needs to think globally and hold firmly to universal human values based on the Rukun Negara.

She emphasised that every PPPM member should appreciate positive relationships, especially in the context of family integrity, inclusivity and racial unity.

“Our country is multi-racial and multi-religious, unity is very important. We need to be united and strong, divided we fall,” she said.

Also present were Raja Puan Muda Kedah, Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff and PPPM Chief Commissioner Datuk Yeoh Soo Keng.
