Flood evacuees in Sabah climb to 4,761 people from 1,828 families, with Pitas, Kota Marudu and Paitan districts worst affected across 25 relief centres.
KOTA KINABALU: The number of people displaced by floods in Sabah has continued to rise, with 4,761 evacuees from 1,828 families seeking shelter as of this evening.
This marks an increase from the 4,652 people from 1,799 families recorded earlier in the afternoon, according to the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat.
All evacuees from the three affected districts are being accommodated in 25 temporary relief centres.

Pitas district currently has the highest number of displaced persons at 2,013, followed by Kota Marudu with 1,923 evacuees.
A further 825 people are being sheltered in Paitan district.
The floods have impacted a total of 79 villages across the three districts.
No fatalities have been reported in connection with the flooding so far.
