Flood victims in five Sabah districts rise to 5,532 people, with Tenom worst-hit as relief centres expand to accommodate affected families.
KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood evacuees in five Sabah districts has risen to 5,532 people from 1,943 families. All are currently sheltered at 27 temporary relief centres opened since Wednesday.
Tenom remains the worst-hit district with 3,149 evacuees from 1,063 families. This marks an increase from the 2,406 people reported on Tuesday night.
Beaufort recorded a slight rise to 1,456 evacuees from 510 families. The increase followed the opening of an additional relief centre at the Bisaya Arts and Cultural Hall.

This brings the total number of centres operating in Beaufort to five. One of these is the Selagon Permanent Relief Centre.
In Membakut, the number of evacuees increased to 427 people from 169 families. The figures for Sipitang and Sook remained unchanged at 421 and 79 people respectively.
The total number of flood-affected areas across the five districts remains at 146 villages. No casualties have been reported so far.
