Saifuddin: Political, economic performance strengthens Madani government stability

Saifuddin Nasution says the Madani government’s political stability and strong economic indicators will maintain public confidence ahead of elections

SUNGAI PETANI: The political performance of the Madani government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is believed capable of maintaining the current administration’s stability.

This strengthens public confidence in the country’s leadership, according to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Kedah chairman Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said the Federal Government has proven its ability to maintain political stability throughout its three-year administration. This is supported by increasingly encouraging economic indicators.

“In the last three years, the country has been led by only one Prime Minister,” he said during a PKR Kedah leadership council dialogue with the media.

This contrasts with the situation before, which saw three Prime Ministers change within five years.

Saifuddin, who is also the Home Minister, stated the main challenge for the party now is translating the government’s achievements into a clear and easily understood communication narrative.

This is so the people can evaluate the benefits of continuing the current administration.

He added that the people should assess the performance of the Federal Government, which continues to pay attention to Kedah’s interests.

As the opposition in Kedah, besides playing a ‘check and balance’ role or taking a constructive criticism approach, they will offer alternatives at the state level.

“The people can see the performance at the Federal Government level and its effects for the people of this state,” said Saifuddin, who is also the Co-Chairman of the Kedah State Development Action Council.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said the party needs to understand the dynamics of support from young voters.

He noted this support can change in a short time ahead of an election.

“Young people can make bold choices,” he said. He warned that if issues are not handled well, it could create a wave causing youth support to easily shift.

“Therefore, it is important to ensure these young people understand the democratic process and the nation-building process,” he said.

This is so they do not choose leaders based solely on party, but rather on performance and credibility.
